1. Traditional Spanish Red Sangria
This easy homemade sangria recipe will transport you to Spain with just one sip!
Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
- 1 green apple
- 1 orange (+ more for juicing)
- 1 lemon (+ more for juicing)
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 1-2 T maple syrup or honey
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 c lemon juice
- 1 cup sparkling water
- 1/3 cup brandy
- 750 ml bottle Spanish red wine, such as Garnacha or Rioja
Directions:
First, prepare your fruit and juices. Dice the apple into small pieces with the skin on. Slice your orange and lemon into thin wheels. Remove the tops and hull your strawberries, then slice. Juice the oranges until you have about 3/4 cup of juice and the lemons until you have about 1/4 cup of juice.
Add 1/2 of the apple and a 1/2 cup of the strawberries to a large pitcher and crush with a muddler or wooden spoon. Add orange juice, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Crush the fruit again, then stir. Add sparkling water, brandy, and red wine, then stir to combine. Add additional maple syrup or juices to taste. Add orange and lemon slices, plus the remaining apples and strawberries, and the ice. Stir it again to incorporate all of the ingredients.
Chill before serving — two hours is ideal. Finally, ladle it into glasses (be sure to put fruit in every serving!) and garnish it with an orange wheel. Enjoy!
