The Best Galentine’s Day Ideas to Celebrate Your Girl Squad

Happily taken? Single and lovin’ it? It doesn’t matter on Galentine’s Day! Now’s the time to celebrate your girl squad — just ask Leslie Knope! No boys allowed, so leave your boo behind, get the girls together, and check out these fabulous Galentine’s Day ideas that your whole squad will love!

Girls’ Day Out

Galentine’s Day only comes once a year, so treat yourselves to brunch before an afternoon of pampering at the spa — massages, facials, and mani-pedis for all! Then, hit your squad’s go-to spot for dinner and enjoy an evening of laughter and extra bonding time.

Must have: Make personalized goodie bags for each of your besties. If you need ideas for Galentine’s Day gifts to include, try a bottle of their favorite nail polish, a mini bottle of prosecco, or chocolates!

Girls’ Night In

Are you looking for the perfect girls’ night in idea? Wear pajamas and pretend you’re back in middle school for a good old-fashioned slumber party! 13 Going on 30, anyone?! Paint your nails, don your facial masks, get lost in a fun game of Truth or Dare, and sing terrible karaoke. But most importantly, pop some extra buttery popcorn, pull out the bubbly, and watch classic rom-coms deep into the night!

Must have: Grab some Galentine’s-themed sugar cookies from your local bakery. You know, the ones shaped like conversation hearts and champagne bottles — adorable and delicious.

Paint Party

Are you searching for a more unique girls’ night experience? Book a private paint party at Painting with a Twist! All you have to do is make the guest list, bring your favorite snacks and cocktails, and have fun with your best gals. It’s sure to become one of your favorite Galentine’s Day party ideas!

Must have: Pink cocktails — they’re perfect for Galentine’s Day! Try these:

Classic (& Classy) Cosmopolitan

Yield: 2

  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1½ oz. vodka
  • ½ oz triple sec
  • ¼ oz. lime juice

In a shaker filled with ice, combine juice, vodka, and lime juice. Shake well, and strain into two large martini glasses. Drink and feel like you’re in an episode of Sex and the City.

Strawberries & Champagne Margarita

Yield: 2

  • 2 c strawberries, hulled
  • 1 ½ c champagne
  • 1 ½ c tequila
  • ½ c fresh lime juice
  • ½ c triple sec
  • Pink crystallized sugar

Rim the edges of your glasses with pink crystallized sugar. Puree strawberries until smooth. In a shaker, combine strawberries, champagne, tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Stir or shake until well combined. Pour into glasses full of ice.

Hemingway Daiquiri

Yield: 2

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 2 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 ½ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz maraschino cherry liquid
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • Grapefruit wheel for garnish
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice, and shake to combine. Strain chilled cocktail into two coupe cocktail glasses. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel and a maraschino cherry. Enjoy!

Red Carpet Party

It’s the day to be a little extra! So, dress to impress, sip champagne, and set-up a photo booth. Instead of AMAs, VMAs, GRAMMYs, or Oscars, show some love and give each other superlatives — funny, sweet, sassy, or all of the above!

Must-have: Balloons! They’re at the top of every list of cute ideas for Galentine’s Day! Hearts, lips, the letters L-O-V-E — it doesn’t matter as long as they’re themed! Be sure to hang them where you can take plenty of pics.

Chocolate & Wine Tasting

Are you looking to get the winery experience without leaving the house? Bring the winery to you! You’ll need wines and chocolates, water and snacks to cleanse the palette, and a little knowledge to make you seem like a sommelier. Let everyone taste the paired wine and chocolates as you read the descriptions. When everything has been tasted, everyone can choose a glass of their favorite to continue enjoying for the rest of the night.

Create tasting cards for each wine and chocolate. Include the name, maker, and description. You can find these on the back of the bottle or wrapper — or with a quick online search.

Here are a few pairings to get you started:

  1. Prosecco + white chocolate truffles or milk chocolate with hazelnuts
  2. Sweet Riesling + white chocolate or dark chocolate with orange
  3. Beaujolais + plain dark chocolate or dark chocolate with cherries/raspberries
  4. Rosé + milk chocolate or white chocolate truffle with caramel

Must have: A charcuterie board. Build your board with two cured meats, a soft cheese, a hard cheese, mixed nuts, fruit, crackers, and a baguette.

Pizza Night

Because… pizza! But forget frozen pizza — make your own! Throw on your aprons, put on your chef’s hat, and open a bottle of wine while you and your BFFs make the dough from scratch and pile on your favorite toppings. Making homemade pizza will be a blast — although you may wind up with a few questionable toppings layered onto your dish. When all is said and done, your crew will agree, this activity is one of the most fun Galentine’s Day ideas around.

Must have: Galentine’s cards. The best are always homemade (glitter, heart-shaped doilies, etc.), but there are plenty of sweet and sassy ones out there!

Besties Brunch

Celebrate Leslie-style (she has the best Galentine’s Day ideas, after all) with a Galentine’s Day brunch! Make frittatas and waffles topped with strawberries and extra whipped cream. Grab some croissants, and then whip up some lattes! When no one can eat another bite, exchange gifts — make it a White Elephant or go for a “Secret Cupid.”

Must have: Set up a build-your-own mimosa bar that pulls out all the stops! Provide prosecco and sparkling rosé, mixers including orange juice, cranberry juice, and grapefruit juice, garnishes like strawberries, raspberries, and mint, and other cute extras like personalized champagne flutes and gold straws.

Celebrate Galentine’s Day this February 13th with a paint and sip event at your local Painting with a Twist! Bring your crew, something to drink, and get ready for some wine-drinking, memory-making fun!
