Do you know the story of how Painting with a Twist began?
Right now there are 300 studio locations and an art library that’s nearing the tens of thousands in paintings- but it didn’t start out that way. The origins of Painting with a Twist are ringing particularly near and dear to us during this pandemic because they were started in the aftermath of some dark times. In 2007, the founders of PWAT Cathy Deano and Rene Maloney began rebuilding their community after the devastation of hurricane Katrina. They wanted to create an escape for people to come together and have a little fun amidst the chaos - and they did just that. These women eventually built an entire industry because they found joy and hope amidst hard times- creating an escape from the daily grind of life to uncork, unwind, and stay creative.
Even though every studio is independently owned and operated, we’re extremely proud to participate in the continued legacy of “fun art, not fine art”- something that started from humble beginnings and caring hearts.The same sense of ingenuity amid chaos which first enabled Cathy and Rene to pioneer what is now the “paint and sip” industry has now propelled Painting with a Twist to adapt a new way to unwind and escape: shipping the PWAT experience straight to your door! We’re THRILLED to announce that through the hard work and dedication of many people at our corporate office, we are now equipped to keep the spirit of Painting with a Twist to the safety of your home. We’re now outfitted to send you painting kits with canvases, paint, brushes, and step-by-step instructions in written and video form! There's kits for everyone in the family; from kiddos to adults to teens and in-betweens. We even have date night options!
