Our Lubbock, TX Painting with a Twist Artists

Vanessa

Vanessa

Vanessa moved to Lubbock from the Dallas area, in January 2018. She joined the PWAT family in April of 2018 and is loving being an Instructor! Vanessa has a passion for watercolors, inking, art and animation. She has 2 years of graphic design and illustration experience, and has also done some public commissions. Vanessa describes herself as an aspiring Graphic Novelist. Her passion for art in general led her into looking for an art-related career. She likes to help people learn how to paint, and showing them that you don’t have to be a “Picasso” to make art. Her favorite advice are some quotes that we are all probably familiar with: “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff……Slow and Steady wins the Race….and it might not look like art right now, but it’s a process, and in the end, it turns out just fine”. Outside of working at Painting with a Twist, Vanessa enjoys reading, writing, and going to movies. She is a big Marvel Fan.

Baily

Baily

'B' for short, Baily joined our PWAT family back in January 2020. She is originally from Snyder, TX but eventually found her home here in Lubbock. She has always been an artist at heart and learned to paint from her Aunt when she was very little. She grew up learning more art from high school, college studio classes and by painting at home. She graduated from South Plains College in 2020 with her Associates Degree in Fine Arts and plans to transfer to Texas Tech in the future. Baily sells her works on the side as well as doing custom commission pieces for others. Her favorite thing about teaching people how to paint is to see how proud they are after they worked so hard on their piece. She truly believes anyone can create something beautiful! When she is not painting or teaching, she loves spending time with her fur-babies, reading, yoga, or traveling. 'B' hopes to see you in class and is looking forward to getting artsy!

Tori

Tori

Tori is a young artist born and raised in Lubbock, TX. She has been a part of our PWAT Lubbock team since April, 2021. Interested in art her whole life, she began drawing at a young age becoming prolific in digital art. She began college at Texas Tech University in the Fall of 2021 to pursue a Transmedia degree, which is the intersection of art and storytelling in digital media. Since then Tori has branched out to many different forms of traditional art, including Charcoal and Pastel Still Life drawing. Acrylic painting has been an exciting adventure for her to partake in, and she is interested in seeing what sort of flair she can add to the medium! When not at the studio, Tori continues to make art, which is usually focused around characters and story artwork. Tori also enjoys listening to podcasts and playing puzzle apps for fun. Tori can also be found around town as a lifeguard and farmer’s market vendor. In the studio, Tori tries to bring a relaxed and easygoing attitude to her classes, hoping to keep every guest calm, happy, and enthusiastic with their artwork! A massive proponent of “the artist’s touch”, Tori encourages individuality and optimism in every guest’s creative choices. In Tori’s classes, the only requirement is to have fun and love what you create!

Bri spends most of her time attending Texas Tech University working on a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art with a focus on Sculpture. Georgia O'Keefe has been her inspiration since the beginning of her 5th grade year, and now she finds herself also relating to and appreciating the beautiful Frida Kahlo! Ameerah

Ameerah

Ameerah moved to Lubbock in 2017 after growing up in South Florida. She’s always felt drawn to making art since she was a child and now painting is like a second nature to her! She briefly left Lubbock in 2019 to study illustration in NYC, but returned in 2020 after the pandemic cut her plans short. Despite this, she still creates captivating illustrations and continues pursuing her passions while enrolled at Texas Tech since 2021, where she is still studying today. She often participates in local art events such as the First Friday Art trail where she sells prints of her paintings! She strongly believes that anyone can pursue art, whether that be as a hobby or as a career; and that anyone can make great art at any skill level! It takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in a skill, and as long as there is another day for you to make art, you have yet to make your best work. Making art is about enjoying the process, and she hopes in her classes she can foster an environment where everyone has a fun time making their own masterpieces!
