Our Pittsburgh, PA - South Side Painting with a Twist Artists

Annie

Annie

Hey y’all! My name is Annie, and I’m from the Washington D.C. area, but I graduated from PITT with degrees in forensic anthropology and political science. I grew up painting sets, performing in theatre productions and improv groups, and drawing cartoons as much as I could. I have over a decade of experience in various artistic mediums including drawing, painting, sculpting, fashion design, and special effects makeup. I have worked in various countries such as Indonesia, Portugal, and Romania doing environmental and oceanic conservation, and I currently take care of animals for a living as well as sell handmade jewelry and commissioned paintings through my Etsy shop (etsy.com/shop/begleysbagels) and my website. I am so excited to be at Twist South Side as an artist, and I cannot wait to help you discover the joy that painting can bring!

Hi, I’m Ashley! I was born in Pittsburgh and raised with a paintbrush in my hand. I’m a recent graduate of CCAC and am looking forward to the next step in my academic career. I have always enjoyed the arts and creating something out of nothing. Whether it be paint, clay, or even my tablet, I’m always busy making something new! I’m glad to be here at Twist South Side, and I can’t wait for you to come and enjoy the experience as well!

Jason - Studio Manager

Jason - Studio Manager

"I was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. At a young age, I discovered my talent for creation as I sculpted action figures out of clay. After I grew out of action figures, I began to pick up new skills within the arts. In high school, I started developing a portfolio that later helped me earn an art scholarship to college. After graduation, I found PWAT and fell in love with the business! Being able to bring the joy of art to people in such a fun and relaxing way is such a blessing. Now, as the studio manager, I've developed an increased interest in entrepreneurship, combining what I've learned with my experience in art to help local artists reach their goals and run successful businesses. I'm dedicated to nurturing talent and fostering creativity within our community. Call me any time to learn more about Twist South Side or book an event with me!

Art is the act of pure inspiration; that's my motto, and just like in Ratatouille, "Everyone can cook," I believe that everyone can paint! The best part of my job is being able to help people realize talent they didn't know they had. I’m Pittsburgh born and raised, and I love my city (and the Steelers and Penguins of course). I have my BFA in Fine Arts from Edinboro University with a concentration in drawing and a minor in art history. I also do commissions, and I'm experienced in all types of media including oil paint, watercolor, ink, charcoal, and graphite. I've been an art instructor for many years before I came to Twist South Side, so I've taught people with different levels of experience. If you're a novice, don't be scared to paint! I guarantee you'll end up with something you can be proud of. If you take a class with me just be ready for my corny personality and nerdy jokes!

Hey, I’m Meg! I was born in California, but I have lived here in the ‘Burgh for most of my life. I’m a graduate of Point Park University with a BFA in Animation & Visual Effects, and I had an internship with Animal Media Group, a local media studio downtown. I’ve always had a strong passion for storytelling and the arts. My love extends from animation, to digital art, to drawing, and, of course, to painting. When I’m not creating, writing, or working on my own side projects, you can find me enjoying various video games, movies, cartoons, and TV shows. So, come on down to Twist South Side to paint with me!
